How can technology assist students with special needs with regard to literacy? In what ways do some students need accomodations in order to use technology effectively?
I believe that technology can assist students with special needs by having certain software's that could motivate them on reading or writing on any subject. Some of the accommodations that students could use technology effectively would be either if it is implemented in their IEP for any particular learning disability. This will give the opportunity for students could either have any tool to be use during their learning at school or at home.
Technology can assist students with special needs by giving them the opportunities to practice, focus on or interpret reading and writing with much more ease. Many computer programs offer help with writing such as voice activated writing or even being able to type can help those with poor handwriting. Programs are also available for help with reading. Lots of websites are dedicated to this as well as programs you can buy. It is important for teachers and parents to be proactive for their child/student in order to gain access to technology that can help.
I think that technology can assist a student with special needs because it can help to level the playing field. Students with special needs who have trouble with writing can type on the computer. This way the assignments are still being completed just in different ways. Technology can also help to motivate students because they view it as fun. When the learning is fun they will be more inclined to accomplish the task at hand.
Technology can assist children with special needs. With the help of technology children are able to be at almost the same level as their peers. I think that if a child is introduced to a form or technology that is going to help them, then I think that it needs to be done very early. That way the child doesn't feel weird about using it and it gives the other children a chance to get used to seeing it. Sometimes the other children think that the child using the technology is cool because they get to use the computer or something similar. This way the child is more prone to using it later on in school. Most technology now for children to use it simple and not complex to the point where children give up on it. It gives directions and it can be programmed to fit the child's specific needs.
Technology can help ease learning disabled student's frustrations with the reading and writing process by accomodating to their individual needs. Students can concentrate less on what they cannot do and more on what they can do.
Technology is very helpful for students with special needs and can help assist students with literacy. The accomodations and possibilities are endless to help students, there is always something that canbe used.
